The X5's younger sister:X3

From next spring the X5 won’t be alone anymore,as its sister will join it soon(Spring 2004).

Since the launch of the X5 few years ago it has been considered the pain in the ass for most 4*4 manufacturers.
Now it will be even worse for the smaller category that includes Volvo XC70 & Audi AllRoad….as BMW is determined to dominate the SAV (sport activity vehicle) category.
The car at its first launch will be available in two versions: 231 bhp Petrol & 204 bhp oil burner both hosting six cyl. Unit & they both hit max speed of 130 mph.

Sport package may be included to boost up the max speed to 139 mph for the petrol & 135 mph for the oil burner.
With DSC (dynamic stability control), ABS, EBD (electronic brakes distribution) and TC (traction control) available it would be much more difficult to try pull its heavy butt off the track.
Other SAV manufacturers should try sleeping pills from now on to overcome their nightmares.

i think that it's a pretty good idea and they've been pretty successful so far, but i get the feeling that they may outrange themselves. what i mean by that is when i drive past the mercedes dealership i just think 2 myself 'jeez they're range is WAY too big', and when i look at BMW i see a perfect range and a car for everything really.
but i don't really think that they need another 4WD, i agree to them trying different things, but i don't think they need another 4WD.

Two words spring to mind when i see this car, Toyota Rav4.
It may be harsh to say it about a BMW, but seriously, all this car is is a Toyota/Honda/Nissan/Subaru/Land Rover/insert random car brand here wannabe. It's too late into a market which sucked in the first place and is now actually starting to shrink. Heaven help BMW, coz i can see them sticking a "for Sale" sign on the 4-Cylinder building now, along with the credibility of the badge....

mid seized SUVs - good thought put into bmw by entering that sector because the amount of CRV, x-trails, rav 4s on the road but that all actually depends on the pricing of the new x3 and the economy - you know when bmw make suvs they do not kid around - take the x5 - so it will be good - looks good in fact much better than the new 7 and 5 and possibly even the new 6 series

That BMW are going to produce a second car into this part of the market just shows how opportunistic they, along with most others are. I know its all about making money but so is prostitution. Can anybody tell me what purpose these vehicles serve.

its a vehicle in which they fell as though they are the king of the roads - you know the high seating positions the big sized body shells and those huge wheels - well ok - anyway i know many off roader owners do not go off roading that often or maybe they do not even go off roading at all but its the poise the safety and the overall stance thats why people buy these sought of things - and maybe to fel big time and you know youre gonna get loads of stares at the lights or the car parks or the highway or anywhere in the world - this sector is doing well thats why bmw wants to go into it and when they make money maybe they will create a good sports car or maybe their very own supercar to challenge the current crop of supercars - and yes motor racing - formula 1 - BTCC - ETCC GT racing - these all need money for development and thus bmw need new areas of making money to make all this happen
