New Mclaren Given First Run

Kimi Raikkonen has shaken down the new McLaren MP4-19B at Silverstone.

The heavily-revised car ran for the first time in wet conditions at the Northamptonshire circuit on Tuesday morning.

The MP4-19B features an elongated engine cover similar to that of the Renault R24 as well as heavily-sculpted sidepods.

McLaren hope the new car will return them to the front of the field after their dismal start to the season which has seen them net just five points from the first seven races.

Team boss Ron Dennis has struck a note of defiance, promising that the team will win at least one race between now and the end of the season.

McLaren are not the only top team running at Silverstone today. Ferrari, Renault and Williams are also at the track.

If you take a side view of the MP4-19 and the MP4-19B, you notice a significant improvement in the aero-dynamic design.

Well the car chasis is definitely a step foward, but what mclaren and all their fans will be worrying now is probably their engine. They still get the same v10 from mercedes, which is known to blow up almost all the time if you follow the sport.

I'm not sure if they can win a race this year, but i just hope that both car will finish in points every race from now, bringing them back to compete with the front runners.

What's up with the SUTTON in the corner, is there someone talking pictures then trying to accuse me of taking them?

I agree! Althought I'm a Ferrari fan, it'll make the sport more interesting to watch if other cars were able to give the Ferraris a run for their money

After three days of testing, the MP4-'9B has covered over 200 laps, more than the equivalent of 3 race distances and without any reports of technical or mechanical failures.

Oh Lord, how I hope this is a step forward for them...

Yea... it'd be nice to see the Maclaren team to actually finish their races and maybe win them? its just sad to see Kimi and David race and have to stop because their engine blow up. It's been such a bad year for them.
Well, hopefully what had happened in Germany won't happen again to the Maclaren guys... and williams (crashed to eachother's cars)

A new McLauren? that's tight, even though Im a Ferrai fan, Id still say that McLaurens are prolly the best on the race track... but the prices of a McLauren are not comparable to other cars, even like Ferrari F50, or Marinello or what ever else.
