Mini 2 Cooper

I live in Canada and considered buying a mini Cooper (VS a Toyota RAV4).

I extensively road tested both the cooper and Cooper S versions (have a friend who works for a Mini dealer). Love the look and handling of the cars but disappointed by the rock-hard suspension (cooper-S especially) so-so engine (cooper) and interior space (impossible to put feet under the front seat when you are in the back), also for the category, fit and finish not outstanding.

Also there have been recalls of the car due to numerous problems, my friend told me taht it's very expensive on repairs if you have an accident...

I must admit I'm disappointed by that car because I really like the way it looks and drives. Very happy though with my RAV4.

Isn't that a bit strange? I mean a RAV4 vs Mini Cooper ? What exactly were you looking for ??

Mini 2 Cooper

Doesn't look like a good comparison at 1st but has to do with Canadian Weather.

I fell in love with the cooper S, but was disappointed by its hard rock suspension and interior space... The RAV4 was a more sensible choice since I owned the previous generation: excellent reliability, good ground clearance and AWD to go through our 6 months of winter (and snow) and suspension compliant enough for our damaged roads (due to salt, ice and snow)...

And since the Rav4 and cooper-S were about the same price, final decision was easy...

Nah. Not for me. I borrowed the original Mini, a cooper s in fact. 1969 model, and I loved it. And all I can say about the new mini is that it is too german, too big, and quite frankly, a crap car.

The Original Italian Job is a much better movie than the new one, much less of a storyline, granted, but much more british in it's character and not tailored to the somewhat short-attention-spanned american audience. The new movie would have no relevance to them if it was actually based in turin as the original was, other than the fact they would see Minis.

Nice movie, like the old one better.
