Downtime

We will be carrying out extensive maintanance to the site's backbone tomorrow (Sept 4th) in the afternoon CET. The main page will most likely not go out at all, but the forums will be shut down for about 4-6 hours.

The end result will be a much faster site and car pages and the daily reset at 1 pm CET will no longer occur either.

Our apologies for the downtime, but it's required to move the forums attachments, which take up over 7 gb at the moment.

also are ther going to be colour changes or are we keeping these ones ?

WOuter and Chaos will be busy getting this set up to go, so a quick summary.

UCP is moving servers and updating the backend software.

NOTHING will be lost in the move ( fingers crossed ). Wouter's been working to make sure it all happens without us realising.

SO no need to panic, nothing lost. Wouter had already posted a link to the 'new' server to guage opinion before it goes 'live' and it had the forums as we know and love them.

So, everyoen, calm down. Trust Wouter/Chaos and don't hassle.
Wait till you see it/play it before jumping to conclusions

AFAIK the plan is NO perceivable change for the users.
best that wat, changing too many things at the same time can just cause things to break adn people get upset

I see UCP as the Hitchikers Guide to Cars.....
- Many ommissions
- Much that is apochryphal
- equally wildly innacurate
- it is even MORE slightly cheaper than H2G2

It is indeed more popular then the Celestial Homecare Omnibus
and than 53 More things to do in zero gravity. No debate that it is more controversal than Ooolong Kaloofud's trilogy of philosophical blockbusters.
All we need to do is add a nice "DONT PANIC" on the new UCP and we'll be as good as H2G2

At the end of each show broadcast on BBC radio, a proper BBC announcer would add things like that.
