How different would UCP be without the reputation system?

Some of us might even remember back in the day when there was no reputation system.

It would be pretty similar to the way it is now, just that you don't have a number to brag about next to you're name.

i dont know really, i would miss the positive feedback it entails.. (and lets you know where youve gone bad)

I agree with that, as I said in my "rep" thread, I appreciate the rep I'm given, like whiteballz says, it's a feedback, can be both possitive and negative. But I don't worry about it.

I saw in my thread that at least a few members do worry about it and strive to get as much as they can. Who knows, if it's that impotant to you, it gives you something to shoot for. Goals are always a good thing

Methinks it may be a lot more personal, with people having to take their grievances out in public rather than just neg-repping. But then again it may be also a lot calmer, because people would air, rather than bottle.

I never liked the rep system, still don't, but at least it has a purpose.

I have to admit, the rep systom is a intergrate part of UCP. cause I know that i'm respectedd because I have 51 rep. without I couldn't of known when i went wrong or anything.

The way I see it, people are seldom going to make the effort to PM you to say "That was a really good point you made there", but with the rep system, people feel more inclined to because at the end there is a benefit for the receiver. I could be wrong, maybe without the rep system people would PM each other with praise/criticism. I just don't think it would happen as much.

I always look forward to finding out if I've gained some rep... then been disappointed every time I haven't. But if some nasty people hadn't taken rep off me, I'd have about 23 by now! Not fair!

i think that if we didnt know about it from the start noone would be bothered

but if it was just to dissapear suddenly i think a few people would be like "dayam wheres the rep gone" but soon they would realise that rep isnt that important so i dont think t would make much of a difference

what you saying that people are just on here to get rep, im not. i post things that are good and that i thnk people will like, if i get rep as a result it is a bonus

no no no no no no i mean that there having fun with alot of people on ucp then getting rep them getting all exited wanting more then it dissapearing im not sayin i want to be the best but you can do what you like my rep is staying with me till the grave
