I wish they sold this car here!!

What car don't they sell where you live that you wish they did??? Since moving to Mexico, I've noticed that Pontiac doesn't sell the GTO here and it doesn't look like they will any time soon. What about you???

They don't have many Twin Cam Escorts and no Twin Cam Cortinas here. Other than that they sell pretty much everything I want here.

The US doesn't have a lot of makes that I'd like to see...

Missing makes:
Citroen, Peugeot, Renault, Fiat, Lancia, Alfa, SEAT, Rover, MG, Daihatsu, and the Malaysian makes: Proton(?)

Missing models:
MB A-class, BMW 1-series, Diahatsu Copen, and other cars considered too small and unsafe for the american road.(Solution: ban the behemoth-SUVs and then the roads will be safe for smaller cars)

I wouldn't say ban SUV's but it is pretty stupid to drive one as your urban assault vehicle. I love a good 4x4 (they don't come from the factory good, you gotta build em), but it's a moot point having one if you don't offroad. I'd love one as my weekend trailbasher, but would never use it to commute.

Renault
Peugeot
Alfa Romeo
SEAT
Rover
MG

But no GTO

No, CIVIC TYPE R, exactly what I posted. There not in America, and I'd like them to be sold in America. Can you see where I'm going with this?

Too bad you don't get the GTO. You know the whole Holden Monaro connection? Well...maybe initially they're just making enough extra for the US market. How are Mexican import laws? Drive one across!! I havn't seen that many being sold though. The car mags bad-mouthed the design so much, I don't know if it will even make it here.

Looking at the list, its a pretty good trade though. The US dealer networks need to be so big that a lot of manufacturers just shy away.

One more reason US color choices are so limited I think. I remember reading here don't remember which post, someone complaining about limited color choices in the US. Its probably this huge market, with 20 dealers in every large metro area and having 100's of such metro areas. With 1000s of dealership to stock.....you get the picture. We're spread pretty thin here.

i think one of the big things is a difference in attitudes about cars here in america and the rest of the world. i juist bought a mini, and i have been getting a lot of flak, people asking how i could deal with such a tiny car. but through the rest of the world it woudl be a mid size car. people here just have to have things bigger than everyone else. i love the little small cars, and wish i had more of a variety. but to be honest, it really would be dangerous to have something like Smart here. you woudl be hardly more noticable than a speed bump.

so what i woudl like to see is a whole paradigm shift that woudl allow america to see the same diversity of cars as everywhere else.

maybe one day...
