Yeah a bolt-in cage which are usually acceptable for national events can be had for 150 quid up. The really common cars are cheap. It's down to what they can charge rather than how much metal is in it I reckon !!!
A weld-in multipoint point cage is usually more expensive and often needs to be welded in in parts. These are required for FIA and Internationla events - usually because it's higher speed, higher risk events.
The crazy part on historic rallying is that you can compete in the Historic events in a car with NO ROLL CAGE if it did so originally !! Gulp no thanks Doing the MOnte stages without a cage - you seen those drops ????? MAD !!!!
It's worth conatct Safety Devices and asking them for a price. They've acquired aleybars so it's now a bit harder getting a second opinion/price

Well 4 point cages caqme in the hos (as an option) not the safest things but if you rolled onto your roof itll stop it from meeting you.....

Also one of the most competative car in the historic racers has an alloy cage brilliiant engineing ensues it stiff and the alloy keeps it light (but of course its was made agggges ago before CAMS put their foot down and said no new cars are to be made this way)

Also theres one bloke who drifts in a rag top s13 with no cage......personally i think hes probly the maddest of the lot and i doubt that helmet would protect him from nearly 1.2 ton of car focusing on his helmeted head....

One of the guys at knockhill rolled his Skyline at the hairpin.
it held up extremely well without a roll cage I'd expected that amount of mass to have folded the corners of the roof - he was either lucky or the reason the bloody things so heavy is down to strong construction

If you were really dedicated you'd question going in a convertible anyway - they've got less torsinal rigidy than a hardtop and to make then as strong as a hardtop youve got to add weight.

Well weight is the devil to every form of motorsport (other then the salt flats but thats a bit diffrent) so yeah im agreeing with you there but personally i think he should be pulled up and either forced to fix this problem or decomissioned......before a tragidy happens...there was a GTS-T 4 door skyline that rolled in the same article he was in and it caused some pretty vicious ammounts of damge to it

You'd hope that common sense would tell you to stick a cage in any race car, let alone a convertible. If its left to the rule makers to start saying this guy needs a cage, should he really be racing?

drifting........now he's an even bigger idiot imo that'd have a higher chance of getting into a rollover situation you'd think, although i guess its all relative. maybe thats why there was no "rule" so to speak, as its still a growing category

Well driveing on the ragged edge youd think its at least juast a likely...and torturing the tyres like that there all possobilitys it could deflate dramatically....

Persoanlly i dont think it should be recognized....its like when the ballroom dancers wanted to be marked down as an olympic even...strenuous as it is and as much practice thats needed to do all that its not a sport.
