Arrow Mitsubishi Eclipse GSR

i know that u guys in america love the mitsubishi eclipse. it is an awesome car and i would love to import one and convert it to RHD. it would be a big job and it would cost heaps, but i think that it could definitely turn heads.

Any advice on where i could get one or import one???

F&F flicks portray it with awesome light and i would love to get one...

come on rocke, he's allowed to have his likes, as are you. personally, it's not something i would do (buy an eclipse) because it's likely to cost an arm and a leg, to have it converted, imported, insured, roadworthy'd, complianced, maintained, modified, etc, and i can think of a million other cars i would prefer with that kind of money, but it's his choice...

This is an america only car, you havent provided any location details so how are we sposed to know where you want to import it to? help us and then we can help you... but like shadow said it would cost a bzillion dollars as its not made RHD standard anywhere so youd need to get all the parts custom made

I dont know why...

For some reason no one has ever been able to explain to me many Japanese cars are sold one way in Japan (fast) and another way in America (slow). The best example of this would be the Subi Impreza (sp?) and all its many variations. They really are able to tear up the streets here, but are total garbage in the states. Similarly the Lan Evo is very fast here, but arent all that much to get excited about in the states. Then of course there is the fact that they dont even sell the Nissan Skyline in the states (and by the time they do, they will have just turned it into another crap car) but are a dime a dozen over here (with the exception of the 34, theyre still relatively rare by comparison with the 32s and 33s). I just dont know, its a mystery. But if you really do want to get your hands on an evo than I really suggest you try to get one imported from Japan. (my brother in law is a Mitsubishi Salesman-Ill see if he knows any way for you)

Scratch that...

I just realized you said eclipse, not evo. They arent sold in Japan either, and for good reason...they SUCK! Its your money so I wont tell you how to spen it, but think twice, thrice, and even a fourth time before you decide to do that, theyre just not worth it.

I would venture to guess, it's due to different emissions laws. On a low-volume car, the inscentive just isn't there to change over to whatever it is we requre here that's different.

Also, I'm sure we have much lower octane gas, which limits the static compression/total boost you can run in a car.

That, coupled with NTSB crash standards, keep most of the 'good stuff' out of America. For most cars to be legalized here, they'd have to heavily modify the bumpers (remember the ugly bumpers on the AmeriTech McLarens?), reinforcement bars, and air bag speeds. Most companies won't try to Federalize their specialty cars because it'd cost too much compared to how many they wanted to sell.
