i like the radical V8 idea if its a lighter car, like i said if it weighs ~2200lbs that would be a great motor for it, unfortuantly i think cost would count it out. but if its a heavier car i think the LS1 would be perfect

On the engine, American Speed produce a 640bhp Supercharged 377 for $19,995
or 720bhp 406 for £25,995. That works with the Porsche G50 transmission.

Essentially the running gear from an Ultima, which seems to be almost what we are aiming at. (~$100,000 supercar, grp body, stripped-out interior and very, very fast.)

I have a couple of interesting ideas in the pipeline, but I think the V8 just killed one of them.

Their whole race car is going to come in for less than 100,000 so we shoudl be able to get the engine within budget
I mean with this small size then it's gotta make designing the rest EASY !!!!

Updated info on the Radical thread

It looks like it could fit in my tandem-seat design, which a conventional V8 probably wouldn't.

will you considering four wheels and contrary to the Messerschimidt Tiger500 a real steering wheel?

How radical (!) do you plan going ?

Remmber this setup is VERY VERY low ......

How about tandem or maybe even 3 with the rear seat being ON TOP of the engine in semi-recumbent ?
Or make the rear 3rd seat a kiddy seat for the yuppie-couple with baby

Hmm I'n tempted to try to draw up a Tiger helo/Apache helo style setup. Would look mean

PS: Engine dimensiond are at http://www.ultimatecarpage.com/forum...8&postcount=13

Alright---I'll work on some pix with cutaways, maybe with chassis.....Spastik, nice chop, but I thjink I prefer the original front light cluster

In the meantime I will come up with a completely new design, just for some more options

3 people? This is supposed to be a lightweight supercar. You don't want to fill it with big, heavy people.

I was thinking of a raised rear seat in an Apache style too, so that the passenger can see out.

Not too sure how much of a good idea it would be to retain an attack helicopter's 'passenger' in the front, 'driver' in the back set-up though.

It looks a bit funky at the moment, I think the aerodynamics may be an absolute nightmare...

if you're going 'rad' then try this....

front seat between the front wheels with 2 seats side by side in McLaren like style but higher. BUT the DRIVER sits in ANY seat with fly-by-wire duel-redundant electronic steering and pedals

WIDE track to regain the stability with option to 'remove' the 2 seater 'pod' and make it a single-seater trackday beast

oh, er, I'm enjoying this I got to get some paper when I've got time !!!!

not bad...this has got to b the fastest replied to thread yet...congrats to everyone who posted and everyones...almost everyone...has gr8 ideas. keep em comin. and congrats to EggNog on his amazin idea...

while i must honestly admit that part of the technical details on this thread have gone WHOOOOOSH *sweeps hand over head* , but i have understood most of it. feels nice to b part of a group where everyone knows so much abt cars, makes me feel all smart and stuff...

since im not very good wit technicalities, im not gona suggest any engines...but as for everything else, these are, IMO, the best options...

gearbox: s2000 (shortest and comfiest shifter ive ever seen), 350z (second best) im assuming no tip and step tronic nonsense, jus plain manual...i dont recall any 7-speed manual gearboxes...the new M5 gona be a 7 speed apparently, but dunno if it manual or tip...

tyres: michelins...nuthin but the best yea?

is it gona b a one or two seater? prob a two, but to save weight, we can have jus one permanent seat, and an option of wether or not to fit a shotgun... kinda lyk matra's idea...

s for the name: hsata retain its roots, namely: ucp. y not call it...

um....

UCP? for: ultra cool prototype or sumthin. if that other car can be named YES, i dont see y not...

most importantly however...
THE CUPHOLDERS!!!

havta be able to hold any size cups, havta be hidden, only to come out wen required, havta look really really cool, mebe wit neons under it or sumthin... hey...how bout we get em chromed, and get spinners on em as well, then we can go to those import contests n stuff...
