Depends on how and when it was timed, and what the conditions were...there's probably 10 or 15 different cars on any given day that could be the fastest.

ok, then in that case, the 9ff V400, went slightly over a miler per hour faster than the McLaren F1, which actually went 239 mph, if you use this formula:

386.7 (F1 speed in KPH)
/ 1.6

but when you use the REAL formula:

the V400 went at least a mile per hour faster than that, its in an article in GT: Purely Porsche, and also i think AutoCar, and maybe something else. i cant find it right now, but i am 100% certain it went faster than the F1

it went 240 point something, i think point 9, which when you use the real formula to convert the F1's speed, is actually higher, but when you use / by 1.6, yes you get 241, but thats cheating

it would proberly be the Koenigsegg CCR or merc CLK GTR, I think the new Zonda may qualify aswell.

The callaway has no confirmed reports of it doing that.
But along that line, the Koeniggsegg CCR was reportedly doing 245 mph somewhere in texas one time.
The Mercedes CLK-GTR has been up to 240 mph also.
The Hennessey Venom's have finally been top speed tested (not completly however ) and it reportedly got up to 245 mph.
The Daur Le Mans was not even tested, but not confirmed, but it was a computer estimation, which leads me to believe it most likely can not break 250 mph.

Oh, stock only? That does change it a bit. In that case, its down to the Mclaren f1, the Koeniggsegg, and the Mercedes CLK-GTR plus a few others that have not yet been confirmed. The SSC Aero/8T is supposedly capable of 250+ mph, and maybe the Saleen S7TT might break a record or two (It alsmost definitly will break the stock 0-60 record, putting it down to 2.7 seconds or so)

Callaway's run did happen, but it was not made to be a record attempt. On Oct 12, 1988, Reese Callaway drove the car to Ohio's Transportation Research Center's proving ground and made the run and that was the speed the car did.

CLK-GTR will never go anywhere near that, it was not made for that kind of racing or purpose, nor does it have enough power to do so. Dauer's speed is probably based on the fact that the Group C Porsche back in the 80s, which Dauer was based on, have been close to 400kph, while this roadcar is less draggy and more powerful than those cars in those days....
