DKM vs. KKM rotary engines

The Renesis and rx-7 13B motors are KKM. DKM motors can rev to much higher RPMs (over 25,000 according to some of the sites I have read), but to replace the 3 spark plugs requires the whole engine to be taken apart.

It seems to me that there might be some interest in a DKM powered rx-7 as a total sleeper car, not neccessarily in a production car but maybe in some sort of aftermarket? Did any cars ever come in DKM? Does a DKM have the same issues with seals as a KKM?

I'm trying to learn all I can about rotaries, thanks for any info.

Thats funny cause i've only ever heard of the Wankel Rotary. Do you know what KKM and DKM stand for exactly?

Yeah, since Wankel was German they stand for German words:

KKM-Kreiskolbenmotor or planetary rotation motor (PLM)
DKM-Drehkolben Maschine or single-rotation engine (SIM)

from http://www.monito.com/wankel/rce.html#KKM

So did DKM ever make it into a production car? 25,000 rpms *drool*
