Help/tips for tranny switch on 97 prelude
Hi,
I am looking to get a transmission swap on my 97 honda prelude. I wanna throw out the automatic(tiptronic) and put in a manual. So if anyone knows where i can find an original honda prelude used transmission in good condition please let me know. And if anyone has any tips/tricks/do's/dont's/ anything i should look out for or know please tell me because this is the first time im attempting to do this. Thanks. |

If you go into settings under the Gran Turismo main menu there should be an option under 'Transmission' for Manual.

Try the scrapyard's or breakers. They'll have something.

Sell it and buy a Prelude that already has a manual. Unless you like cutting holes in your floor with a torch and rewiring parts of your ECU to not look for the automatic trans module.

Don't:
Bother with it. Do: Buy one with a manual if you are that desperate. Tricks: If you can't find a manual Prelude, you could also look at Intergras, Celicas or a Mondeo ST-24 if you want a cruiser.

just get a transmition from tremec, should fit and will be ultra slick to have a full-on racing sequential in a prelude, the only thing will be shipping

The other thing would be that racing gearboxes aren't slick, they have one setting: Fast as possible.
The other other thing would be the noise straight cut gears make. The other other other thing would be the short lifespan of a racing sequential. The final other thing would be the price. He might aswell buy two preludes, one manual and one auto.

Yeah, the neutral start switches have been around for bout 50 years, but...I never would have figured they would tie that into the ECU...now that I think about it though, aren't auto trannies these days pretty much all electronically controlled? They'd almost have to hook that part up to the ECU, right? And of course I imagine the ECU would want to know if it's backed up by a manual or auto...
