Methanol

Can anyone tell me which fuel keeps the engine the coolest: methanol or petrol?
Does methanol have any other advantages over petrol?

Ditto

Yeah, me too, Cedric.
I have a 200L drum of the stuff (it's about the same price as petrol). We used it in two-stroke go-cart engines mixed with Valvoline - great stuff. Does anyone know if I should stick it in any of my cars?

I could explain why the answer to your question is difficult, but instead, click here
because they explain much better than I ever could. Ah well. Back to work

In this article it is said that methanol has better cooling abilities, but as long as your engine doesn't knock it isn't that big a difference if you use racing fuels. Also, methanol has a 10% power advantage over petrol.
What do they mean with jetting?

Here is an exploded view of a carburettor.

Very oversimplified;
Carburettors work through suction of fuel via jets.
Injectors work by mechanical pumping of fuel via injectors.

Jet tuning involves changing the size of needles so that the suction causes the correct flow of fuel for the given situation.

Ish. I must point out I'm not really an engine bod so this could no doubt be explained better by someone else.

Thanks Kudos

A very good explanation of why we used it in two-strokes and why it totally screwed up my '97 Wrangler.
Thanks again.
