Super Charging a BMW E34 or E39 Engine?

Wondering if anyone has had some real world experience (good or bad) with adding a super charger to a BMW E34 540i or an E39 540i? Any and all comments on performance and/or problems are appreciated.

Unfortuntaely I don't think you're likely to find such specific model-specific mechanical help on such a general forum. I do think that the best serious option would be to ask around at a local performance shop, but as far as asking around online goes the folks at Bimmer Forums would probably be your best bet.

Agree wholeheartedly with this, as an E34 owner myself (manual 535i), they've come in very useful. Plenty of supercharged E34s I've read about, generally it's ~$4000AU for a conversion. Depends on the car, supercharger, budget etc.

Try "www.jimmy540i.com": this guy has a supercharged E39 540i (once had 450hp, now 485hp) and it seems like he's quite satisfied...

Arguably a more expensive supercharger but these guys are probably the best BMW tuners in the US in terms of performance without sacrificing reliability.
