Turbo e15et nissan wont rev

I bought a n12 pulsar et turbo on ebay. It wont rev out, is very lethargic, when you take the oil filler cap off the revs at idle drop to almost stall speed. I have noticed condensation on the bottom of the filler cap, and it has used some water so I am thinking the head gasket is failing, but is this the main thing that is holding my little 1.5 screamer from revving past 3 grand clearly? Oh, it doesnt blow any smoke btw.

Is there water in the oil, or oil in the water?

Are all the cylinders firing? Do a compression test also.

its more than likely your mass airflow sensor, on nissan engines, if the mafs goes bad the ecu goes into limp mode, thus not allowing it to go past ~2500-3000 rpm.

(@ least i believe your car has a mafs)

You can have oil in the radiator, or you can have water inside the crankcase.

This is why I typically stay out of the tech forum.

I did say that...
I keep forgetting most of you just look at cars in magazines and on the internet, and not actually work on them.

Sounds to me like the ecu may be playing up, maybe try the Pulsar forums in the tech section. If its not missing it should rev cleanly to rev limiter. Does it free rev when its in neutral??. If the comp was down it would probably miss.

Nephew had one years ago, they are a fun little car, his had a few mods= torque steer is your friend .

It appears to be a buggered set of compression rings. The head gasket is nearly screwed. No smoke because the oil control rings are fine. Thankfully being a front wheel drive its relatively easy to drop the sump, lift the head and bash through a set of new rings and B.E. bearings while Im at it. haha, and the hand brake is a bigger friend by the way charged, what a hoot.
