What does Van Den Plas mean?

I've seen it as a model designation on Jaguar's XJ8 and now I saw it as a designation for the Minerva AL Van Den Plas Cabriolet.

What does it mean?

As far as I have always understood Vandenplas is a coachbuilder, like for example Zagato.

It was an automotive make, a coachbuilder, and in recent years, IIRC, it served for Jaguar and Rover as a name for their most expensive cars
