Ideal Hillclimb Gears?
This year I'm taking my 55 Chrysler to the Pikes Peak hillclimb for a special vintage-historic class. I need to change the rear axle ratio on my car, it weghts about 4000lbs and has an early hemi 331 mild cam, headers, etc. 700r4 trans, and 275/60/15 tire size, the peak torque RPM is around 3000 RPM I'm thinkin something like 4:11 or 4:56 any ideas?

Can the car withstand high rpms in top gear? You'd want to find something that can maximize speed on the straights but also be able to get out of the corners quickly. This might help you out, Gear Ratio Calc use 4th gear of the T-56 as it is 1.00 ratio (assuming 4th gear is 1.00).
PS- Nice car. ![]()
