Ahhhh, that would be a very good reason.
Yeah, people keep telling me there's no turbo lag, and compared to the older cars you're right. But many of the newer cars with "no lag" still do lag. What bothers me isn't waiting for power to pass or waiting for it to spool up in a straight line, it's the uneven power delivery in a corner. Some of the newest and best I have no experience with (the aforesaid Porsche for instance,) but the new Evo is supposed to have absolutely no lag, and I didn't find that to be the case. I got to ride in a new BMW 335 (wouldn't let me drive and I can't say as I blame him) and it was pretty sweet. Not all that long ago someone high in BMW (I don't know exactly who or the exact wording and I'm too lazy to look it up) said something to the effect that forced induction was a low-tech shortcut to increased horse power. Now they have a twin turbo offering; I guess the times do change with the technology.
Still, I figure if I'm talking about buying a car for the joy of driving (which is really the point of a sports car) I want no compromises in what's important to me. I guess I'm not a typical american (it's not all about the power with me.)
