24-25 mpg average from my 330ci 6 speed. I can get 30+ mpg doing long haul highway cruising. Fortunately I don't drive more than 5-6000 miles a year anyway.

What kind of car do you have? If I could have I would have bought a 330d (or even that new BMW 123d which at 50+ mpg is amazing) but they only sell the gasoline models here . On the bright side gasoline is more fun

I bet it doesn't. The best I could extract from a tank in the 118d was 41mpg US. And those were mainly careful motorway miles.

you need a T66 and a..a....inependent fuel management system dude. I admire your eagerness but seriously spend the money on a genuinely worthwhile car. If you do it I will seriously impressed!

Our 520d does 35,7 mpg. (6,6 liter/100km) Driven pretty hard. Lots of city driving. Pretty good if you ask me. It can go down to 6 liters (39,2mpg) if you drive it very slowly though.

My best tank so far has been 5,8l/100km. Mostly motorway at about 140km/h. I guess you can go below that but you'd have to drive slowly.

The average seems to be about 6,5l/100km, 65% motorway, 35% city. And I usually like driving fast. Compared to the Mini it's amazing.

Do you have an instantaneous mileage calculator in the 1?

What is optimal cruising speed in it?

Yup altough it's slightly optimstic. The numbers I gave were calculated with the km's I did with a full tank.

As for the optimal cruising speed I believe it's around 80km/h in 5th or 100km/h in 6th.

It's European law that cars need to have this system in the dashboard.

Friday I drove a new record too. Using the slipstream of some lorries and my cruise control, I managed to use 10,53 Liters of fuel on a drive of exactly 300 km's. This included 4-5 km of city driving and some sections (40-50 km) where I averaged 120 km/h. I stopped once and floored it to 100km/h when going back to the main road. I was amazed when at the pump. It's a very good 1l : 27,8 km or 65 miles per gallon ! I'll take pictures of the gas ticket next time.

My BMW has one but it makes me feel very sad when I am trying to have some fun. I am actually finding myself using it more and more now and it really is helpful to try to tailor your driving style to save fuel.

Cluck a duck man! And I thought that was a car to save fuel money? That's more or less what the 2.4v6 does! I aparently managed to get 65mpg in a 122mi drive in towns, carparks and on open roads during a day... Which is odd, seeing as Mazda only claim a combined of 44mpg or something
