What makes for a good forged piston anyways? Weight? Tensile strength? Endurance? Tolerance?

Are these the sort of figures given out to the general public?

On what can one base their claim which is the best piston maker?

JE pistons and ACL are good, hypertec pistons are good value for money also.

mahle --meh no better than the others just more expensive

Pistons are only one part of the equation, no point having good forgies if the rods and rings are crap

Ehm it was in the better automotive magazines about half a year ago. I only have a copy here of the AMT magazine somewhere which elaborates about it.

A quick search on their website gave this:
The first MAHLE engine—an investment in the future

I'll try and find the magazine later today.

Many nice ones not listed. I don't have a favourite, but will add Cosworth's name to the list
