Near the middle of the middle of middle England.
What racing engine configuration would you have?

I was wondering what you would chooose as a personal favourite competition engine, no specific race series, just say what what configuration, capacity and aspiration. Considering size, weight, aerodynamics, ergonomics, aural qualities and personal preferance to how your race engine should perform.

I'd choose a Twin turbo 4 litre flat 12, for both aural, power and weight reasons.

Surely you can come up with something a little more imaginitive.

P.S. Fuel is petrol, no hybrids.

I'm wondering how you came out knowing it would be a good weight compromise.

Mine would prolly be a 3,5l N/A v6. It's compact, it's got symmetri (compared to an incline) and it has some nice power potential.

If i were to put it under pressure i would most likely choose a supercharger. Since i utterly hate turbo lag,(Yes, i know you could fix that with a set of bi-turbos) then i would rather sacrifice a little bit o' power.
Allthough I would most likely refrain from doing so, since i somehow feel like it's 'cheating'. I mean, I know it's a way to score the big HP, but theres just something about N/A thats totally different.

Btw Leon. You avatar got so much better

Edit: Mine isen't really from anything race related. I just conjuret up my favorite engine configuration.

Matra V12s sounded best

I'd go for the 787b engine, not just for the screaming sound and the exhaust note but mainly for the sexy variable length intakes Small engine, small capacity, LOTS of ooooomph

sure it's meant for marine applications, but hey that wasn't specified in the first post
and i'd fit one to a car anyway
the second one is an evo motor fitted with four turbo's lul

Of course.

For a contemporary LMP style car a 6.0 V12, for a GT car a twin turbo 3.0 inline 6.

I figured, if we got car and boat engines, why not preach the good word of the aviation radial?
