The tuning weekly/monthly is a bit of a red herring.
That's only necessary if you're trying to keep it at perfect tune. For normal day-to-day use an annula clean up and tune can suffice !! Dont' be too scared of them ![]() Remember though to either get a setup or get a good Weber mechanic and to also uprate the ignition side as fair bet you're throwing in a lot more fuel ![]()

hmmm
might have to invest in some of the 100 octane stuff the selling at the servos now... Its for racing so does that mean a weekly check?

You only really need that level of re-tuning for a competition car operating at the peak events. Don't worry, Blue, it's NOT that necessary ![]()

OK so ive gathered that these things are very much worth fitting if i can get ahold of one. Ill need a good mechanic to fit them properly, ill use a heap more petrol if i fit them, and theyll give me a significant power boost. anything else i should know?

Don't let the cops/transport authorities see them as they are illegal in OZ on post '76 cars as they don't have ANY vacuum ports for emissions or vac advance

tuning and balancing 2 different things.Yeah, you can maybe have to balance them regularly if you don't have competition linkages. There easy to make with high-spec small rosejoints and rod. Generally cossie and my experience are different on this, never had to do balancing outwith normal tuning for winter/summer etc on the Escort, Imp or Matra. ( But I did make pro linkages for all of them. It's a common problem with older setups that they get all "woobly" and don't close fully and twists on the butterflies cause wear which cause leaks etc. ) However, all sounds academic if the OZ polis won't let you ![]() Balancing Webers officially needs a vacuum column to balance the ports. BUT, I've seen an experienced driver who could get it by trial and error and listening to the 'timbre' of the air sucked at idle !!!!
