Are holleys are better option then?
That's a myth, and Holleys can't hold a tune worth a damn. I swear by my Edelbrock.

I can't tell by your post, where did you have the car?

My father had two 131 Mirafiori's, a 2-door 1600, and later on a 2-litre Supermirafiori, 2-litres TC version, which unfortunately was quickly rusting.

i think the funnier thing is, the smallest state, ACT, probably has the most members from it i mean in the ACT theres Blue Supra, whiteballs, Falcon500 and IB4R. in NSW theres me, motorsportnerd and Colty. Melbourne theres SlickHolden of course and i cant think of any other regular members...SA theres crisis and charged and WA theres Luciferous...

so hows that for weird

If it's for a race car you will definately have to tune them often to keep them optimum,it's not a myth ,it's fact but then I did 1000km's per week with them on and on a few different cars so it tended to exaggerate the need.I always knew they were out of tune(there was nothing wrong with the linkages which is a well known problem) when they started to pop just off idle so I had to tune/balance the air/fuel mix for the idle circuit for EACH throat which in turn smoothed out the low end rpm, this to me is balancing or equalising each throat to each other as the adjustment was a very fine line but yes you must also syncronise both carbs (or more) but this should never need adjusting again. Go for 45DCOE's then with trumpets, they will be hard to find at the right price,40's are more common on OZ,especially at wreckers which you can get for a few hundred dollars,if lucky

Yeah for race cars its not a myth...but how many of us own actual race cars? not a whole lot. Mine's a daily driver and will occasionally see a weekend dragrace or an informal, impromptu light-to-light drag, nothing more.

I don't know about that,I think most who are into cars enhance their street registered car to be closer or the same as a race car

I suppose so...but I consider myself pretty heavily into cars, yet I'll probably never own anything that goes faster than 12's in the 1/4 mile, I'd be pretty surprised surprised if I owned a car that cornered terribly well, and I probably won't be too concerned with the extra 2hp from PERFECTLY tuned carbs...while speed is fun, I have to remember to KEEP it fun and not obsess about re-tuning carbs and the like all the time in the quest for record-breaking timeslips.

In other words, you're right that people want performance, but they wanna keep it fun too. Most probably will be happy with the tune Webers keep once they've been tuned and won't be concerned with losing a couple HP from slight lapses in the tuning.

yeah it's true. But we have a track where competitions are made and we can try our street car there and can even race in a class called "Run what u bring". Also we have some "long" street which one can drive fast if not caught by local warden! In fact with the 131 I clocked 125mph..........but the street ended.
