coincidence ? One of the guys in the Alpine club is selling a triple setup from the GTA on eBay. Startting at 300 quid - OUCH
Tune these up and you'll need to learn to do on-track refueling and have a tanker follow you round !!!!

Yeah, watch out for twin downdraughts too.
The Escort used to get 25-30mpg on 'normal' use.
On forest stages we were lucky to get 5 !!!
Of course you don't HAVE to use all that power

I heard that when they were developing the 6pack they sent an engine to Weber and got them to set up the carbs at the factory

I'd like to upgrade the triple 175 stromberg carbs on my 3.3litre 6 torana to triple dcoe 45 webers, but at $1500AUS for a 2nd hand set including linkages and manifold its not something that can be gone out and purchased easily.
BTW, a brand new single DCOE weber is about $600AUS.

Pics below of my current engine bay (green car), then one of what it would look like with webers

If ya look hard enough you'll get a set of two 2nd hand for not much more, and that would include manifold and linkages.

There's a guy on ebay in USA that sell heaps of webers and dell-ortos (same as webers but slightly improved) for fairly cheap... From memory you could get 4 DCOE 40s for about $3-400 from him...

Mush harder to set up and tune that SU's and strombergs (almost identical), but steer clear of the holley unless you have a V8... 350 on a 3.3litre holden is largest that should be done, although I've heard of 600s with vacuum secondarys been used, but that had heaps of time put into it with jetting/tuning it. Steer clear of mechanical secondarys unless you are very wise with the throttle, or you'll constantly bog the thing down... ie, run too rich.

If you are going Dellorto's then ring wreckers,I picked up a pair in an Italian car wreckers in Manly for $70 in early 90's,this a while ago but they shouldn't have gone up too much since then,$300 seems far too much for Dellorto's and you should put a kit through them as well if you go secondhand
