My Milieage Monster: Golf TDI

Hello all, every once and a while when i get the time, im strawling around these forums for information and looking at cars. I've always been a big fan of showing each others cars and give each other compliments. So here is my current car aswell!

She's a 1997 Volkswagen Golf TDi which meansthe car standard has:
81 kW (110 bhp) @ 4150tpm
235 Nm @ 1900tpm

not bad for a diesel!

this is how i bought her about 9 months agoo, the only thing i changed before these pics is the front lip spoiler. I changed it for the bigger Vr6 lip, which looks very nice!

Being me, i need to have some nice sounds in the car, so i dumped in my stereo system:
Headunit Kenwood KD-9021SE
Front Kenwood 5 1/4" speakers
Rear Rockford Fosgate 6*9 FRC3369
Subwoofer Rockford Fosgate Punch He2 12"
Amplifier Rockford Fosgate Punch 200.2

Second step: OMG MY VW BADGE FELL OFF!

Third Step: Aah she sees alot better now!

Fourth Step: For those of you who didnt read it before, yes it says TDI on the engine! She got a brand new Chip here, new performance stats: 140bhp and over 300nm!! Which gives it a very fast 100kmh to 180kmh sprint. New topspeed, 225kmh on the Clock.

Fourth Step pt2: Ohoh, she fell through her shocks! Front: 85mm lower, back 75mm lower

Notice the difference with the first picture!

Fifth Step: I got a bit bored with my rearwindow whiper, rearspoiler, and all the badges, so what the hell, ill just take them off! (later this year a bodyworker will clean the tail completly for me)

And this is just a nice picture, for the people who know me, they might remember the spot

http://speed.supercars.net/pitlane/pics/751231d.jpg

the only thing changed since then, chrystal clear side indicators

For my next year plans:

-Chrystal Clear Red/White Tails
-Remove Indicators in front bumper, make it smooootth
-Cleaning up the rear
-Porsche Teledial rims
-get rid of the Wheelarches (is that the correct word? i mean the black around my wheels)
-And some suspension modifications

for people not familiar with porsche Teledials:

I'm in love. Lucky you with the Euro bumpers stock. I'm going to end up spending close to $2000 to get them, plus the rebar and rad support, plus paint. Gorgeous car.

I miss your 'Rado though...

Are you going to go NA spec on the bumpers or just sand down the textured part? I know we want the European stuff over here, and you guys want the North American stuff there. We should all get together and trade.

(The main visible difference for those wondering is the NA front bumpers have cutouts on the side for a sidemarker light, and the rear bumper for NA is a little higher cut with a different rear valence.

You mean after the chiptuning? or just in any condition? Because the mpg's became even better after the chiptuning (driving normally ofcourse, i've had my fast days, i occasionally push the pedal a little bit further, but thats just to see the reaction off people behind me in a big black cloud )
with the winter time, my consumption has gone up a bit, but i still easily manage 19kms on a liter, which is almost 54mpg if you are living in the Uk, or about 45mpg if you live in america. And thats with about 60km a day, and some shorter runs, supermarket etc.

i am very surprised about how fuel efficient the car actually is!

Hehe, yeah its always the part you cant get which you want I dont like the look of the NA rearbumper though. Im just gonna go for sanding it all down, and fill in the indicator slots with some fibre. (look at the pic for how i would really like the front bumper to turn out)

BTW where are you getting your bumpers from?

if you know what shipment prices cost from holland to your place, i might be able to shave alot of money of that price and help you out!

and please dont mention the corrado, it's still a very sore subject

There's a lot of places that sell them here. I can probably get them both for $700 to my door. But the painting and other parts to make them fit are going to kill me. That's a while down the road though. I want my VR6 swap first. Why am I addicted to horsepower?

Horsepower addiction? That comes with being on Vortex too much

I had the same experience after the readjustment of the engine management. Probably you get more power with the same amount of throttle, so you don't need to push so hard.
