that sounds a bit extreme
i'm lucky in that i use a private insurance company through my dads business, they're generally more sensible

the reason the '02 model didn't have the proper jap type R engine was because honda japan only recently discovered that preimium fuel was widely available in oz anyway, 150kw isn't to be sneezed at, and with a little work you can get more power than the jap engine anyway.
i'll probably be in a position to afford the '05 type S early next year. we can compare them then altho if all goes well my mum will cream us both with her db9
woah ur mum gets to drive a db9! thats gonna be one cool mum :P

hmm new Type S does look pretty nice, and seems like a nice drive too, i reckon a test drive soon before u decide to buy sounds like a good idea.

$40000 on a first car is insane!!! I spent $800! with $40,000 i could get my car to run a 10 or 11 second 1/4!

An rx7 would be my first pic. They are very popluar in australia, also you shownd be able to pick up a good one for well under 20K. Do 20K of mods to that and u should be running a 10 second. Or just street port it, exhaust, and intake. That would cost you under 2K and you will probably run a mid 12.

I'm just saying what you could do with that amount of money rather that just buying a new car. If you buy a new car it will obviously become a used car as soon as you drive it. Why not just get a used car and save your self some $$$. Even if its 2 or 3 years old you are still going to save a hell of a lot of money you could spend elsewere.

The best small car for that money in my opinion, is no longer made. The 200SX. It will kill you in insurance premiums as will any turbo or sports car. SO for $40 large you are in for boredom city or a near new SV8 or XR6T. Forget the size, they are great fun.

The XR6T's starting to get out of reach though, same with the SV8 now that theyve added the SV6 bodykit but it should be easy to find one used for under $40K.

Have you thought about the Corolla Sportivo or any other hot hatches? The Corrola's just under $30K with 141kw, although you might want to get rid of the 16 inch wheels

yea, 40k for a first car is outrageous!!!,-even 40k NZD is heaps!!! :0
i would go along the track of 85_RX-7, get a car for around 20k, mod it abit then save the rest...you crash the car and what are you going to have to show for it?

any way if i cant change your thinking then i would get a-
rx-7- either a series 1 or 6/7

A low k second hand one would be ok. You would have some spare readies to get some new tyres, exhaust and cough for the insurance too.
