Well, that's it...

...I've decided to sell the Stang. I found the car I want. '66 Cadillac DeVille Convertible. It's got a brand new brake system, tranny, paint, electrical system, and interior, and has had a later model 472 cubic inch V8 swapped in to replace the original 429 that came with it. Perfect starting point.

It's been on the market for a while, and the owner needs the cash, so I can probably get it from him cheap. Hopefully this will work out, I have yet to look at the car as it's in the Houston, Tx, area...but when my Dad's in Texas again to finalize the deal on the new house he'll take a look at it and spot me the cash to buy it until I get Lola (my Mustang) sold.

PS I apologize for the poor pic, that's all he's got of it right now...

Nice car for an old one. A hydraulic system would be nice on it.

Why? Jcp is one of the few american's who can actually own a car like a Caddy and not pimp it out it seems these days. What purpose would hydraulics serve?

EDIT: Nice choice Jcp. A 472? Holy crap thats big! Thats almost 8 liters!

You know, back when I got the Stang, I looked at Chevelles. I could hardly afford a hardtop version, let alone a droptop model. A good one runs about 4 times what this one's selling for. I'm not gonna lie though, Velle's are among my favs. They're my second favorite muscle cars, and were my first muscle car love. The '70 Chevelle SS454 LS/6 and the 1963 Cadillac Series 62 Convertible are the two cars that got me into classics in the first place.

Hydraulics? I think not. For one, they bend the frame, for another they're expensive, they're unreliable, and lastly (my opinion, anyway) they look incredibly stupid. Air suspension I'm open to (wanted to do that setup on a '62 Chev Bel Air), but also probably no.

Matra, unfortunately I haven't been able to look at it yet, but the chrome is probably good enough I can either take some steel wool to it to make it look passable, or I can sandblast pieces and have them re-chromed.

Cdoc, yeah...7.7 liters of torque, baby! 525lb-ft gross. I'd have to look it up, that still probably comes out to around 365lb-ft net at 2000-2500rpm though...I'm going to have to try a brakestand, maybe wet the street down with bleach for extra smoke

Anyway, this still ain't a sure thing, we'll see how it turns out...

Cool looking car, always been a fan of the caddy's. Thats a huge amount of torque, but performance has got to be hindered by the weight of that beast. For the burnout thing, make a pump going from a bottle, and put it infront of the wheels.

Auto trans fluid works well too, here's my grandma proving it back in the 80's with some mammoth of a car
