The new member of the family

I wanted a Mazda 3 but Toyota gave us a better deal for a Corolla + it has a slightly better gas mileage and so my dad decided to go for it.

Although the car is not for me I drove it home from the dealership and it is a pretty nice ride, really soft and silent, good AC / Stereo and a nice interior.

Yes I do know that for the price of it you can get an early 90's M3 etc, but it wouldn't be brand new, give you such a great mpg nor be as realiable, and besides my little brother is a bit crazy, so a slow car fits him well.

Here are a few pics, I'll take some more tomorrow or another day.

Edit: That's my brother in the pic, not me.

We already have a Civic in the family (Mine '01) and the new model is probably coming out next year, so we thought something different would be better

Nice looking car, my parents are looking for a new car, 150,000 miles already on the '01 beetle, they might be getting a newer beetle or a mini cooper S.

I would do donuts all day in that culdesac.

Nope, my mom commutes across state everyday for work at Uconn(100miles round trip) and we use it to go out to ohio to visit my relatives 3 times a year which is abuot 1200 miles round trip. Its a great thing that it gets 50mpg.

Of course, starting with some Type R badges and $h*t

Seriously nothing, I'll force him to leave that car as clean as possible.

How's it running? I'm gonna have to buy one of those for my GF in the near future.

It's ok, only once the diesel gummed up(it was -5?F while on the highway), the clutch is starting to go, my mom hit a deer a few months ago(from the side, it's head went into the fender and the body swung back into the door crumpling it. Ended up replacing the fender, door, rockerpanel, and headlight.) but other than that, no big problems, except with the EGR vavle getting gunked up with carbon, but if it is the gas version, you shouldn't have that problem.

Of course it is the petrol version you wouldn't get the great mileage, nor would the engine last as long. Ever considered replacing it with a Golf? Same mechanicals, more useful body. Dunno about pricing though, I've never looked that far into the New Beetles.

You realize that for the price you could've gotten an early '90s M3, right?

Your bro looks like you man

but some phat 18" spinners and some neons on bro! itll be fully sick bro!

seriously though for a 1.6 (or are they a 1.8 now?) they make good power and are a very reliable car. i have nothing bad to say against any corrola.

hope your bro doesnt try and do doughies in the cul-de-sac. that could be nasty for neighborly relations
