Mechanixfetch is Buying a car... Maybe

Right, I am plannig on buying my first car very soon I know that I want a Fiero and i have several examples available to me. There is one GT with 227 000 km on it for $1500 CDN (All prices are in CDN) then there is are two 4cyl carfor $2000 each with around 170 000 km and then getting alot more expensive is a GT with 66 000 km for $2500. The last one although it seems good will be a stretch for me to afford especially with paying insurance from ICBC (the only insurance offered in BC) Thinking of which Egg Nog if you read this tell me what you pay for insurance because I'll probably pay the same. So from the car experts here I'd like your opinion on what to do. Thanks for your valuable input in advance.- Mechanixfetch

You'll probably pay +/- $1600 per year.

Which one you get totally depends on how much you will save and what model you want. The one with only 66,000kms is definately the best car for the money.

I would definitely try to stretch for the 66,000km GT, I think it would be worth it in the long run. One question though, how much is the insurance costs between the 4 cyl and a 6 cyl GT? Might be worth looking into before you lay cash down.

There are swaps available for Fieros, a while ago I saw one with a 350 V8, and another swap I have heard about, but never seen is a 3.8l turbo from the Buick T-Type Regals (think Grand National without the intercooler and fancy badges).

Good luck either way.

is the internal "girl handling" capacity of the car important to you? If so I would go for something slightly larger.

Once you've bought it and saved up a bit more money, I think it would be about time for V8Archie's Chevy 350 Conversion and a Finale Re-body. Awseome.

Yeah the "girl handling capacity' is less important then the road handling ability. Good suggestion though.

The silver one before was the fino kit and the yellow one (which minus the seurcide doors would be tops) is the stinger kit.
