My First rally - Wilbarston

What an amazing weekend! It started off great with that gathering at the Fox's (Thank you ) Then there was that little kafuffle when we got back ot the tents but lets not say anything about that as its all in the past now.

Me n' Loz decided to get down to the track as early as poss so that we could have a walk round and see but it was so but that we only go time to walk round about half of it. First stage i took really cautiously as i didn't want the same thing to happen to me as the sunbeam (head on into a tree - nav air lifted to hospital and driver in thambulance) on my first event, that looked real nasty with the big tree gauge in the front . the other stages we thought we did really well on considering that it was out first ever event. We got interviewed by SKY TWICE! (have a feeling one of those was thanks to Pat (challenge organiser)( another top guy thanks for organising everything))

The stages in the dry were really fun loved every minute of it and me and loz didnt really have any nervs atall, not even on the first stage, which surprised us. the wet stages were amazing fun, stage 7 we cought one car, spun cought him again passed him again stage 8 cought another car and then attempted to gain some time on a bm but there was no point as it left us down the straights

Im glad we made it to the finish, we lost a screw in the dizzy cap second to alst stage and it got some water in and the car was sounding really sick getting to the end of the stage and im sure a few of you saw, it had to be pushed from the finish line to out spot in the pits

I was aiming for finishing about 10th 1400 and top 3 in beginner section instead i got

1st beginner
1st in class 1
3rd 1400 overall

well chuffed

Overall great day, thanks to Pat and the organisers / marshals and anyone else who helped out on the event

P.s. cant wait to see the pics and Sky footage now

ill post pics when i get them

I know you lot prob wont know who i am talking about in here but i just coped what i wrote on the 205 rally forum

we almost got that yesterday too as we cought some pain in the arse who decided to trundle round the inside in the pouring rain so i had to go round the outside but as it was torrential rain hit a patch of water and at 75mph it spins very fast and alot of times was heading towards a little patch of trees before i managed to get it back catch the guy and pass him again two corners later

Congratulations.

What Sky programme was it filmed for? Raceworld? Max Power? You'll have to give us a heads up for when the show is being aired.

Well done.

First one under the belt and only minor hiccups.

You'll be able to build your speed up now, but remember it's your brain that makes you go faster, not your right foot ( that was a sensible first stage )

Thankfully you only needed pushing AFTER the stage end, An unreleased in-car footage of the MGB last year has the driver screaming ape-shit at me to get out and push when we cut out for the 10th time 5 yards from the finish We'd already lost and I was knackered

Looking forward to pics

( EDIT: If you know when it will be broadcast I'll grab it and share no probs )

Thanks Pete

As i said after that crash from the sunbeam i didnt want to waste everything on one corner, junction 8 was labeled caution and that if you wenr in you werent gettin out any time soon so with those 2 problems i decided to get used to things and where breaking points were as i only got chance to see half the track, but i was still only 12 seconds off the leader on that stage
