Here's my ride

OK,so I went hunting for a 944/951 and came home with this. I'd had 2 before, so I couldn't say no after seeing the condition. I don't know if you guys like attachments v. links, but this is my new laptop and I don't have photos stored on it yet.

Anyway, this is a 71 MG BGT, with about 95K miles. I have a pic of how it was when I bought it and then now. I added 15" minilites, Firehawk Indy 500's in 195/60 size, a 5/8" sway bar, poly bushes, heavy duty shock valves, an overdrive trans (4sp w/ electronic OD on 3rd and 4th), the mahogany wheel from my old GT, Hella 500 fog lights with period switchgear, an ST )special tuning) spoiler/air damn, and a CD player. No plans for the future, really, its pretty much how I wanted mine when I was in college, even the same color.

I've started to autocross it, but its not the best, just a lot of fun.

I also have an SUV and this, what I like to call the old battleaxe:

Looks like a nifty selection for an enthusiast!

You've got a B, a Benz, and a Behemoth

Hello mattmacklind, adn welcome to UCP. That's a pretty car you have there. It's nice to see more classic car owners arriving to this forums.
As much as I like the minilites, I prefer smaller wheels on classic cars. But it does look very good with them.
Don't worry abouth having the best car for autocrossing. At the end of the day, fun is what really matters. I have a much worst handling classic car and still, every time out is incredibly fun.
I hope you keep enjoying it and I hope keep around for long.

Good to see another MG guy here. The car looks gorgeous. I've been wanting a BGT for a long time now, but I have no room.

Welcome to UCP! There aren't many MG's here, I guess the rarity makes them appeal to me even more! Nice to see you're putting it to good use as well!

edit: ...and by "here" I meant Finland, not UCP... Just clearing it up.

Autocrossing in my area, in my class, I'm usually running against (Chrysler) Cavalier's, (Dodce) Neon's, BMW E30 3-series,other MG/TR's, and Miata's of all generations, and, as luck would have it, 944's. Here's a link to the scores after the last run.
http://www.crownautocross.org/result...-2-results.htm

That will give you a run down of my scores, as well as everyone else's, as well as a handicap score as if we all drove the same car, basically. I'm just glad to hang in there and have fun. It is, after all, a 34 year old street car. Ohy yeah, I run street tires, too, so I should actually be in the street tire class, but no big deal.

Man, a friend of mine has a MG club, with all the classics in just the perfect conditions, and this car would just blend in! Such a beauty!
