besides it's not exactly difficult to maintain a rotary it just requires more attention, and if you can't pay attention to a sportscar, buy a corolla.
iirc it doesn't make it lighter either, but adds a minor amount of wieght?

2,831lbs with a full Touring interior, sunroof, complete Bose sound system including the "Sound Wave," and a 1/4 tank of gas.
20 gallon tank... so 15 more gallons at 6lbs/gallon(being conservative) =90lbs so the curb weight of the Hinson LS1 = 2921lbs

Curb weight of a touring model w/5-speed = 2862

....so LS1 swap gains 59lbs

BTW mine is a Base model, only weighs 2789 wet.

Not that it matters I increase the weight by more than 3 times that just by getting in.

For the record my Wankel is staying where it belongs.

I would. I just wouldn't swap the engine.

Again, I like the car as it is. It's my opinion. You can do whatever you want with the RX-7 if you owned one. I would keep it the same if I owned one.

Turbo.Jenkens, your car looks really beautiful. I saw a very similar FD in Adelaide, Australia.

The rear bumper looks weird. Was it designed for a dual exhaust and the owner only used half of his bumper?

My apologies for letting the thread die.

Charged,
Thank you for sharing, your friends RX7 made this thread a whole lot cooler . Its great to see what my car could be capable of with a deep pocket and a good driver.

Its been a glorious 2000 miles since my last post. I live in a pretty rural area so twisty backroads are plentiful. I'm thankful to live about 1500 yards from the Georgia state line (GA roads are far superior, coincidentally AL taxes are much lower ) Sometime in Nov I installed the racing beat cat back, and have been very pleased. It makes a pretty deep sound at idle and its not nearly as obnoxious as some of the other exhaust out there. I couldn't go all-out on my brakes, but I did replace the rotors with a set from brembo. Hawk ferro-carbon pads & steal braided lines came as the same time. I have been very pleased with this setup, of course I've only been driving on the street. I have been so impressed with the improvement in brake feel that I will probably upgrade the pads & lines on my daily driver soon. Thats it for now, I'm trying to save up and put away enough for an engine rebuild before I do anything else. I plan on keeping this car for ever (or at least a couple of decades), so a rebuild is inevitable.

Those are some serious wheels. But, I really have my heart set on the BBS RGRs in diamond black. Since I won't be doing a 99 spec conversion the spirit R wheels I posted in the beginning of the thread won't be worth the extra money to me.

I think about these every day:
