Wifey's new car

So a few weeks ago we put a depost down on a new car for my wife. We decided to sell her truck and get her a real vehicle that would be much more efficient at carrying people and stuff. Neither the Mini nor the RX-7 are very good for hauling people around.

We test drove a few different things. We drove a Mazda 6, Scoobie Legacy and a VW Passat about a year ago, and those were all well and good, but none really hit the spot. This go around we drove the Rogue, Murano, and CX-7. The Rouge was quite a let down. The murano was impressive on the interior, however it was let down by the drive. The CVT was boring, and the steering was none too impressive.

Cara was in love with the looks of the CX-7 and fortunately the interior and driving were great. We did our research, and got a deal on the car, paying 2 grand below MSRP. We finally took delivery of it about a month after we put it on order. The specification level we got and the color made it difficult to find, and we thought we were going to have to order it from the factory, but they managed to find one that hadnt been sold yet.

So here it is... a 2008 Mazda CX-7, Grand Touring, AWD, keyless entry and ignition, Sat Nav, Sirius, and pretty much everything else you could want. It's a riot to drive, and the most luxurious (and expensive) car I have owned.

As a plus, we have sold the Frontier and are using that to pay off the Mini, and so it means that I'm not too far away from a new car for myself.

(the pics are from her camera, not mine, sory about the quality.)

Sat in one at the QC Autoshow a few weeks ago, do want. Actually I prefer it over the CX-9. Congrats on the purchase man, and enjoy it!

I went to the Mazda dealer about a month ago and tried one also for the wifey... The one with navigation system has an amazing interior, definitely a beautiful car. The only thing missing was the AUX for the iPod....

Congrats!

I drove one of the grand touring a few days ago. I was out testing for my mother. It has the same engine as the MPS/Mazdaspeed6 just de-tuned. It also has the same chassis. It felt really tight and I approved it for my mother. Good choise and I hope your happy with it. I just prefer the white.

You can find them in Australia, if that's what you want to know.

I sat in one at the motorshow the other year - VERY nice car. Modern and funky, with at true S take on the SUV.

That, and obviously the ladies love it

EDIT: although this will be the second time your missus has a butcher car than you

I'm not into the whole SUV thing, but it doesn't look bad for an SUV.

Congratulations and enjoy it.

It is one of those cars I have never heard of, but I discovered it is available over here, for roughly 70,000 US$. (6-speed manual). Through "grey" imports an auto box is also available but that comes in combination with the softer US suspension set up. I have never seen one though.

they seem to be quite well built, as in, one of the crossover's that actually makes sense
can't help but think of it as a 6 on stilts, though.

Very nice! Not sure about that colour though, white or metallic blue = win. I'm a big fan of Mazda's, it is without doubt that they will never let you down (just as ours gets a small oil leak...lol) Any chance of this joining the AutoXCooper?
