IIRC the GSR is the road-oriented car while the RS is the race ready one.

Can't be as bad as modern Toyota's. I hate driving my mom's Toyota Sienna, because there is no steering feel at all.

![]() At least you can change the handling and stuff with the onboard computer, so you may be able to get more steering feel, though that might only be on the S4. RS4, S6, and RS6...

Correct. Though before the Evos, the GSRs were the turbo AWD models. There was a Lancer GSR and Galant GSR, and both are definite sleepers. They didn't come with lairy bodykits or anything to signify what was lurking beneath.

I'm definitely going to try to get a nice BMW now.
More of a driver's car, nothing but good reviews, maintenance is only slightly more than Japanese cars... ![]()

Found a 1993 Mercedes E420 for $3500.
Looks to be in good condition, and it's local, so I'm going to go look at it tomorrow.

If you want a driver's car save up another 3-4 grand and buy a Nissan 300ZX. It's faster and probably handles better than any 3 series and you'll enjoy working on it when the time comes. And on the plus side I'm sure Nissan would be able to supply you with anything you need plus the ridiculous amount of after market support.
I think you're throwing money out the window if you're seriously considering cars that have over 150,000 miles... especially high maintenance european cars.

Saving up another 3-4 grand isn't an option really.
If I did do that, I'd buy an Audi A6 or a BMW 540i

My insurance company is very relaxed with new drivers though so their policies are very good for young drivers. I tried insuring the same car with an insurance company called "The Personal" and they refused to insure me despite having a clean record. His insurance quote will depend on his insurance company as well. If he shops around he can get something better. If anyone in Ontario is looking for a good and cheap insurance company for young drivers call Bell Air Insurance. Just 411 the number... too lazy to dig it up now. Zytek_Fan, its your choice what you wanna get, my suggestion is go Japanese + Turbo if you want a driver's car but I can tell you have an affinity for European Luxury cars. I personally think you're gonna regret it but you can't argue with what ones heart wants.

I found a 1994 BMW 540i for $2500.
Exterior looks pretty good, interior needs to be put back together according to the description (waiting for pics from seller). edit: It has 132,000 miles. Seller said he'd get me pics as soon as possible.
