True.

Still it's hard to say no to a six cylinder engined, pre Bangled, BMW coupe.

I think of the E30 M3 as being the "real" M3, and it had the brilliant I4.

From experience, between the E92 and E46, I still think the E46 M is the best looking, but the E92 M is much, much faster around a track. Also, the S64B40 is 15kg lighter than the S54B32, and let's not forget that it hasn't blown up like the early 54s yet.

I included various pics from this year
Occasionally I had the same problem with my E46. Same fix.

First pic is win. I love the VW keyring.

e46 ///M3's had a recall to fix thoses issues, so if you buy one make sure that has been done. IMHO there has never been a bad ///M3. Back when the e36 ///M came out people also said tht it was heavy and soft compared to the e30. I recently drove an e36 ///M3 on a track and it's a faaaaaaaaantastic car. I drove everything from e30 to e90 all brilliant driving machines in their own way. The only ///M I drove was the e36 though , cant wait to get in an e30 ///M3 , maybe later this year i have a chance

And yet, nowhere near as involving.

Oh you have something special to look forward to. Take it around a set of twisties and feel how the car becomes an extension of yourself. It's tough to describe it, but it feels like the car instinctively knows how to pick the correct line, and then goes for it.

Also try the Z4M. It's my personal favorite after the E30 M, but I just don't fit terribly well in a Z.

Dealer delivered, no. Fiddle with the bloody settings, and I feel the E92 M becomes a true M and just as involving as the E46 M. The 135i and 335i at first made the M feel redundant, but after having RTFM, it became apparent that the E92 M was something the X35i's will never be. Again, this is simply personal preference and experience.

I only know someone with an e30 but I'm verry happy with that.
I once tried to get into a z4 and my right knee was bashing the bangelesque dasboard.

That's possibly true, altought somewhat the V8 engined 3er can't get close to the same feel the old sixes had. Driving the Z4M straight after the M3 only made this more evident.

Trade it for a 330ci. Its not that much worse for fuel efficiency but it is significantly more powerful. Or maybe even a 330cd which apparently is pretty good but they never sold it here so I dont know
