Der Red Baron

I picked up my new car today.
2006 VW Jetta GLI, salsa red
-6spd
-Leather interior (autobahn package)
-6 cd changer/sat radio
-Sunroof

I drove about 40 miles home from the dealership, stalled it 4 times . But its fun as hell. More pics to come. Once I sell my truck, some mods might be coming.

I fear you may have just lost a friend in a Master Quigney...

Very nice car, was it difficult to find one without the DSG?

Shouldn't this technically handle better than the GTI hatch, rear bulkhead = added structural rigidity?

Congratulations!
Is it a secret how much does a 2006 Jetta cost there?

Lower it.

A kid at my school has a Mk. 4 GLI, and he was pulled over doing 135mph, so this car has some nice go.
Turns out he was drunk.

What the story behind that rumor? I remember reading something about the stated HP is measured/set during high air temperature or something?

I have heard it before, and a guy a know, has the new Scirocco (2.0 TSI 200 hp). They pulled 240 hp in a Dynapac dyno. Without any chip or added boost... My brother also got the Golf GT 1.4 TSI 170hp, and it has always surprised me as a very fast 170 hp car..

Thanks. It'll take some getting used to after driving the truck for a while now.

Quiggs didn't believe it was happening, he thought it wasn't gonna happen just like the Audi I tried to get. It just happened by chance, I was looking on autotrader and they had the car. I went to look at it and signed papers the same day.
Not sure on the comparison with handling, but it feels like its on rails.

They listed it for $19,990 and I got it for $17,990.

The gti/gli headlights are different than the standard lights.

Give it some time, some mods will happen.
The car goes like a raped ape when the turbo kicks in. It's faster than anything I've owned so far. I haven't gone for a top speed run yet.

200hp @ 5,100-6,000
207lbs-ft @ 1,800-5,000
It's such a rev happy engine too.

That's it exactly.
I read somehwere that the mk4 Golf GTIs with the 1.8T regularly came up with about 15bhp more than the manufacturers qutote and someone had something ridiculous like 595bhp from the new RS6 Avant.
They're also very tuneable, mates Uncle had his Leon FR 2.0T up to 240bhp with one chip, and my uncles TT 1.8T is running at 350bhp and 350NM up from 225bhp

That's usual in some turbocharged cars as well as diesels.
