'67 Mustang, C4 automatic:
2,46 1st 1,46 2nd 1,00 3rd Rear axle ratio: 3,00:1 No torque converter lockup or, obviously, overdrive. Why did overdrive fall out of fashion from the 50's to the 80's, anyway?

Don't know why but it really would have been useful for muscle cars with 4.11 or 4.33 axle ratios.

Yes it would have. OD makes your gearing so much more vesatile - suddenly 3.73's and shorter in the rear end don't look so steep at all. I'm going to guess it came down to cost?
