My Car: Repaint... What Color?

Eventually, the time will come to repaint my '76 Cadillac Fleetwood Limousine. It is wearing the original paint and is faded in places. Waxing it doesn't help much... it's just too faded. A lot of spiderwebbing, too.

Since I already have one black Cadillac ('69 Fleetwood Brougham) and a triple black one at that, I've been considering having the limo painted in a dark blue with a matching dark blue vinyl top. (The vinyl top also needs to be redone). I've always wanted a blue car.

So, tell me what you think. Keep it the original color (black) or go with dark blue. Someone on the Internet, I forgot if it was a website or mailing list... he said paint it in the original color if you are planning on selling it; and paint it in the color you like if you plan to keep it. That does make sense.

To help with the poll, here are some photos. Photo #1 is my car in the original Sable Black. Photo #2 is a '68 Fleetwood Brougham in two different shades of blue. The top one Emperor Blue and the bottom is Specture Blue Firemist.

Vote here!

If you go for painting it, the lighter of the two blue you posted (bottom I guess) with black vinyl-top. Sticking to the original color would be nice even if you're planning to keep the car tough.
Do you have some images of the other Caddilac you own?

I would go with the lighter blue, with a dark blue top. Subtle two tones look great.

I'd say a deep black would look best on it.

Lol. I'm getting all kinds of (different) opinions! Getting kind of confusing!
Just nobody suggest yellow or pink (or green)!

Yeah, at this time, I kind of like the lighter of the blue (bottom photo), but probably with a blue vinyl top.

Here is the pic of my other Cad ('69). As you can see, it is very black which is why I kind of want blue for my other Cad.

I must say, no offense Fleet, how much better the '68 looks than your '76. But I am a little biased. Design-wise the '68 Caddys are some of my favorite luxo cars of all time. So crisp and so regal. (Love the '69-70 also, but after that they go downhill in my eyes.)

I think either the lighter blue with a darker blue top, or the darker blue with a black top.

If it's blue, I would like a really dark blue. Kinda like a navy blue. But that's because I wanted it black. Since you don't want it black, that's the closest color.

Actually, I agree. My favorite Cads are the pre-'71s, espeically the '68-'70.
Those two '68s in the photo do look regal.

Either of those sounds good. I do have time to decide, fortunately.

Here are some to compare:

A '72 done in Brittany Blue with a Black vinyl roof.

A '75 done in Georgian Silver Metallic with Silver vinyl roof and below it, a '74 done in Regal Blue Firemist with Dark Blue vinyl roof. I do like that '74 in all blue.
