Road tripping on it sounds like a fun idea, but it'd have to be planned carefully to take into account its.. leisurely.. performance. And maybe find a smaller sprocket for the back first.. Still, for a trip that avoids major highways and weaves about the backroads it'd probably be quite fun...

That'd be heaps good for tootling around suburban streets. park anywhere, use bugger all petrol....

I'd hate to see it on a highway though.

It also is running a lot better with half the tank filled with 98 octane. Next up is replacing the spark plug and it should be brilliant!

I've actually seen a scooter Vespa thingy on the highway, next to an 18 wheeler's draft. Holy crap it was scary, the thing was so unstable. It kept up with traffic, barely, but I actually feared for the driver's life.

here in Italy, where scooter and things like Pimento's are very common, you can enter the motorway (from 80 to 130 km/h) only with two-wheels vehicles with a displacement larger than 150 cc.
That said, there aren't much scooter if not those with 400-800 cc engines.

For those really big trips, why not move up to the comfort & security that four wheels bring to long distance travel?

No need to upgrade too far from your postie bike, just choose a proven vehicle that matches your style .. like this one

THIS DROVE AROUND AUSTRALIA - eBay, Automobilia, Transportation, Collectables. (end time 14-Jun-09 20:00:00 AEST)

I'm in Balmain. At the moment I've not been out of the inner west.. still learning and all. The boss did his Ls at the same time, he has a scooter so we've been getting about places. I want to ride out to the Hunter or something at some point, but things like that should probably wait until I've gotten the Ps.

Since I voted for this to be a custom here.. I should take part myself.

Is it practical?

Since I fitted a big cagey basket thing (it started life as a drawer) I've brought home a case of beer, a vacuum cleaner and a pretty large firewall.. so for a motorbike, yes!

Is it economical?

I fill it up with the change in my wallet.

Is it fun to drive?

For me, a learner with no experience.. yes. It's fun in the way a crappy old car is.. just fang it everywhere and do some off-roading with it.

Will it break down all the time?

It'd better not.. though it seems to like blowing headlights at the moment.

Is it easy to park?

It's a small motorbike.. it doesn't get any easier without having to pedal.

What if I go to a Shopping Centre and get chased by baddies in a Corvette?

Easy.. head down some escalators!

Is it green?

Nope.. it's red.

Can I afford it?

Well, if you have about $2K.. which will include rego, insurance and some basic kit.. yes.

What If I'm asked to take part in a beach assault with the Royal Marines?

Well.. one survived a beach trip up near Cairns.. and I've seen a bunch with rifle racks.. I'd say it'd be pretty handy.
