This weekend the legendary Spa Francorchamps track once again proved why it is so well loved by drivers and fans alike. For the third year in a row the Belgian circuit hosted a round of the Le Mans Series. It's not just the layout of the track that makes for exciting racing, but it is also the weather that plays a big part; a completely dry race weekend is exceptionally rare. This weekend was not one of them with sun on the first day, rain on the second and fog on the third. Even with three of us present, the amount of action was hard to keep track of. Not one session ended without some drama and before the race started three cars were already out. Shortly after the lights turned to green half a dozen cars were out with accident damage. Once the race really got going there was never a quiet moment with close fights in all classes, as if it was a sprint race.
Our photographers spread out across the 7 km long track to capture the race in high resolution and full colour. Their thoughts and images can be found in a 2000 word report and a stunning 200-shot slideshow.

Wouter needs no compliments as he already loves himself a lot!
But it has to be said that this is one of his greatest slideshows ever and a very nice report too.

Congrats on the constant improvement.

There will be nothing but classics at Monaco next weekend, so you better start looking for new superlatives.

Right now I have a 1D Mark II S and a 20D with a 70-200 2.8L, 17-40 4.0L, 24-70 2.8L and a 1.4 extender. Bart used his 1D Mark II with a 400 2.8L IS for the shots he supplied. Heavy stuff, but all worth it!

Have you noticed any difference in picture quality between the 1D and the 20D, while using the same lense? I wondered this as the 20D already has great quality and thought the more expensive 1D Mark II S is just built to take more hard use with its professional grade body.

It's considerably faster than the 20D. Also the sensor is larger with the same resolution so the quality of the images is better. It is also a great benifit that it is fully sealed; combined with an 'L' lense it can handle almost any weather you can throw at it. Lastly it also good to know if the images are crap the photographer is to blame as it does not get any better than the 1D.
