Ultimatecarpage.com update (09-07-06)

Dear Ultimatecarpage.com visitor,

The summer break for the automotive industry is now really over and almost daily we receive information of new releases set to be unveiled in Paris in three weeks time. Last month we already reported on Peugeot's diesel concept and now it's sister company that takes centre stage with the stylish C-Metisse Concept. Under the carbon fibre body panels Citroen have installed a highly advanced diesel-hybrid drivetrain, which should find its way on a road going car shortly. Chevrolet's entry to the European market has not yet been very successful, but maybe their recent WTCC victories will turn things around for the American company. To celebrate these wins, the company will take the wraps of the funky WTCC Ultra Concept. Lancia's many fans have been waiting for years for a proper replacement of the legendary Delta and their wishes could very well be fulfilled soon. The good sign is the Delta HPE Concept, which is on show at this week's Venice Film Festival.
For us the summer is the busiest period with almost continuous traveling to the world's most exciting events. In August the Pebble Beach weekend grasps the world's attention and in particular the Concours d'Elegance Best of Show. After our in-depth coverage right after the show, it is today time to take a close look at that winner; the Daimler Double Six 50 Sport Corsica Drophead Coupe. As we researched the car over the last few days, we became even more convinced that the exotic Brit was the right choice for 'Best of Show'. You can still expect more reports from that weekend and to keep the anticipation up we want to highlight the unique Maserati A6G/54 2000 Zagato Spyder that showed up at the Quail, a Motorsports Gathering. One of our personal highlights at the Goodwood Revival this weekend was the beautiful recreation around original parts of the Ferrari Lancia D50, which was raced by Alain de Cadenet.

Your article about the Daimler is misleading.

F. R. Simms contributed greatly to the development of the Daimler. He sold the very first petrol engines in Britain that powered boats on the Thames and he licensed the 3 1/2 HP Daimler that made the first long motor car journey in Britain. As well, he was directly responsible for changing public opinion about Petrol engines through demonstrations and shows. But most importantly, he saved DMG in Germany from Banruptcy by using Lawson's money and at the same time helped Maybach & Daimler rejoin.

Who says? Somebody who persistently calls a Chevron B16 a Lola T70?

That's beside the point and you know that.

Oh and nearly 75 Daimler 50s were made, the 26 figure is way off...

In the recent past I've been forced to research these things more than I normally would have.

You could have started your post with the additional information that you apparently. To call a report "misleading" presupposes intention, and that as you very well know is not the case.

Misleading, as in giving a wrong impression of F. R. Simms, who did much more than 'nothing' with Daimler's patent.

If this site is powered by knowledge, I think a correction is in order don't you think? Especially for the credit of Mr Simms.

If you indeed had said: Your story gives a wrong impression about Mr. Sims, rather then using the derogatory word "misleading" your comments would have looked constructive from the very beginning.
