BMW has completed their M3 line-up with the addition of a Convertible model. Like the standard 3-Series Convertible, the new M3 drop top uses the popular fold-away steel roof. With 400 bhp available, it is ideally suited for a quick run along the French Riviera. Arch-rival Mercedes Benz has taken the wraps off the CLC at the Berlin fashion week a few days ago. It sounds like a brand new model, but in fact it is the coupe version of the latest C-Class, which was previously referred to as the Sports Coupe.
In Detroit two Japanese manufacturers launched new versions of their sporty four-doors, which on both occasions was almost overlooked as a result of both companies' fantastic new concept cars. Mazda unveiled an all new RX-8, which has been improved both inside and out. At the Mitsubishi stand the Lancer Ralliart made its debut. It bridges the gap between the basic Lancer models and the much more extreme 'Evolution' versions.
Siata is best known for the company's fabulous two seater Roadsters, but the company also offered a variety of coupes. The rarest of these is the 208 S Balbo Coupe, which combines a roadster chassis with a coupe body. Only one of these was ever built. Connaught built only one example more of the AL/SR. This two seater sports racer was constructed for the 1954 season using the previous year's Works Formula 2 cars as a basis. The two cars were raced at a variety of events with a class victory at the Goodwood Nine Hours as a highlight. The featured example is the only one remaining.
