Ultimatecarpage.com update (06-11-08)
Dear Ultimatecarpage.com visitor,
In good Ultimatecarpage.com fashion we will kick off the 2008 edition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans with a look at the event's very rich history. There is a very good chance that this year the distance record set all the way back in 1971 will finally be broken. In our all new Le Mans Winners section you can see that at several times competitors came close by sorting them by race distance or average speed. For those of you more interested in the current machinery, we have added five spectacular shots from the test session to the wallpaper section. A lot more images will be published possibly as early as Friday with a report of the qualifying and the much anticipated Group C support race. Rounding off our first report from Le Mans, we take a closer look at one of the least known; the Mercedes Benz 300 SL Competition Coupe, which was the first closed car and German car to grab the laurels in the legendary endurance race. Despite beating the Works Jaguars, Ferraris and Aston Martins in 1952, it is hardly remembered today. A reason for this might be that it was replaced by the legendary 300 SL Gullwing road car and the equally famous 300 SLR. In its single year of racing, the 'W194' also scored a convincing win in the Carrera Panamericana. The featured example is the actual Le Mans winner, which is in private hands and is still regularly campaigned. 1952 Mercedes Benz 300 SL Competition Coupe - Images, Specifications and Information Le Mans Winners - Images, Specifications and Information Wallpaper Section - Powered by knowledge, driven by passion Regards, Wouter Melissen

Very nice wallpaper section.
but what ruins it for me is that some of them look ameturish in comparison to others and degrade the level of the whole section...

Care to be a bit more specific? (anyway, you can only use one wallpaper at a time, you are not forced to use them all....)

When I said ameturish I meant that in comparison to the other pictures in the section they look almost cheap and here are the examples:
Pic17 - Seems like a picture you would find on the media site just lousier Pic67 - Looks like a picture I took at some show and so are 106 and 111, 120. Again, the majority are superb. It's just those I mentioned and a couple more that seem to ruin it for me.

I'm not saying otherwise, I just feel like its not good enough to be there especially in comparison to all the other pictures were there are no similar ones to them in any other place.

What I'm trying to say is that, the headlight picture for example is one that you would expect to find on the Alfa media site along with other pictures of detail of the Brera. However what you would find there would surpass the one in the wallpaper section by miles by quality and clarity of image since it was taken with higher end equipment and on an orgenized photography set. So why would anyone even if he is a headlight lover would like to use that one in perticular. There is nothing apealing about it in comparison to the other pictures in the Wallpaper section that are either of Classic cars in special events or Racing pictures taken on the spot in high quality.
