2009 Aston Martin Cygnet Concept - Images, Specifications and Information

If Aston were concerned with EU emission requirements, why didn't they designed something like large go kart? Something like a scaled down Ariel Atom?

As a V8 Vantage Roadster owner I was afraid of what Aston Martin were doing when the first photos of the Cygnet concept appeared. It was one of those things being emailed around like a joke.

What many people are not reading or more so not understanding (in particular in the US) is that they have to meet the lower CO2 footprint requirements set out by the EU. Now that they are not technically part of Ford they have to have a car with a lower capacity engine to offset the emissions numbers of the V8 and V12 engines.

Why do you think Koenigsegg were really trying to buy Saab for example? The other major super-car manufacturers are all connected to a parent which make tiny yet super efficient engines.

What is most important however is whether or not they will stick with the limited release of the car. Dilution of the brand is a concern if they make the car available to every Tom, Dick and Harry who would otherwise buy a Mini Cooper S or a Fiat 500 Abarth. They key I think is price and it should be higher than either of those cars.

Personally I think it will work well if they can keep the Cygnet to the quality of the the bigger siblings yet still have that nippy hot-hatch come city car thing. In many cities in Europe this thing would be a lot of fun with the short wheelbase!

I am a huge admirer of the Aston Martin automobiles and I think this will be a good experiment for the company and it also gives Aston Customers the ability to stay with the brand with a "green" option.

This concept is not only logical and relevant to today's market it is very responsible of Aston Martin. I give 2 thumbs up as I know Aston will continue to make wonderful automobiles that live up to their reputation.

it's alright for aston to build GT cars, supercars, or even 4-door sports saloon... but what were they thinking when they made this??? it doesn't feel right. What's next for them, an off-roader based on a Range Rover or a hummer??? it's just not right...

Re-badged PIAGGIO motor scooter which folds flat and is kept in the boot of your ASTON MARTIN One-77 - initially as an option only for the new model but will be released for other models in 2011. Ordered with matching paint work or individually specified colour, although pink will not be accepted.
