 Its beautiful...but hardly original

Buick did it first, as well as a standalone concept car called Patriot...and dont forget Sterling Kitcars. This roof design is thus not new, and the overall shape is nothing the Buick didnt do before with Wildcat in 85. However, I like the way Pininfarina executed this idea more than how the Buick Wildcat did it. This is much lower and meaner, more taught and aggressive. I like pretty much every car with this sort of roof design. Not original, but entirely exciting!
Oh yes Pininfarina themselves did this same idea before with their Osee concept supercar.
 Very impressive car.

Having seen this car in the flesh the pictures really do not justice to it. The dark background and the dark glashouse are difficult to distinguish, but seeing the whole roof moving to open or close the car is awesome.
Just a side note to the historical part of the write up. There has been some confusion about the 350S prototype. Most sources claim that it was simply a 300S in which the 3.5 litre straight six of the 3500 put. This took place in 1956. The V12 was designed to replace the 250F 6 cylinder and was also designed for the 2.5 litre formula and was tested in 1957, but was hardly used for serious racing. One of these V12 F1's has however been meticulously restored and can occasionally be seen in historic racing. The engine would have been very generously designed if it could be extended to 3.5 litres. In stead the Birdcage had a three litre engine, which was revived during the 1966 formula 1 season when the 3 litre formula was introduced. It was chosen by Cooper to propel its weapon of choice for that year, a.o. driven by John Surtees and Pedro Rodgriguez.
 Finally a DreamCar

This is the most significant design of the past 20 years. Only the Zagato Raptor was matching in terms of design the peaks of this grand work of art!
This is not a car, it is everything a dreamcar should be. A sculpture, a grandious manifest of speed, a declaration of simplicity, a bold statement of Maserati's history. Searching the perfect shape it is the most stunning, breathtaking vision of a Maserati ever will be. That's what this car is all about
Thank You
