I'm not a big fan of Mercedes Benz, I believe lots of the models they offer are overpriced, poorly designed, uncorrectly engined, even horrible as the A and B series. But the SLS AMG is whole different thing, it was build aiming for perfection and reached too close to it; u bet I want to have one of these toys for my own as daily use car. Now, in the purebred sportcars category Audi's got the new R8, Maserati has its GranTurismo, and even Jaguar has something with the new XKR; but what is BMW going to do? the M3 and M6 are obviusly not the answer, and so far there are not even rumors about something like the Z8

Having finally seen the final version of the car it looks like Mercedes Benz is moving in the same direction as Ford is with the Mustang, Chevy with the Camaro, Fiat with the 500 and even Nissan with the GTR.

Its creating a "modern classic" using the past as a foundation. Not only does this show that the company still values the things that made it famous but also making the original versions of the car more desirable and expensive.

Without the three point star I wouldn't recognize this as a Mercedes Benz.
 Viper Like Indeed.....

When the car was being developed, by then, Chrysler-Daimler, an actual Viper shell was used to conceal the appearance. So it's no coincidence one thinks of the Viper, especially in terms of proportion. Seems they did a nice job at creating a probable future classic...IMO.
 YAY FOR REAR TRANSAXLES!

Wonderful layout of the powertrain. Unfortunately this engine is lacking direct fuel injection which is nearly a must to be considered "technologically advanced" in this market, even though the engine may produce more naturally aspirated horsepower than any production V8 engine.
 Long hood...

Looking a the design its gonna have a long hood much like the Dodge Viper. Driving it on US road is gonna be fun but on winding European or East Asian roads is gonna be tricky. But then again maybe the AMG engineers have that figured out
