The Lola looked lighter and quicker, and in practice it certainly was, only to miss out on a debut victory due to a broken throttle cable. It was the start of a fabulous season of racing, which saw Bonnier win in Finland, Austria, his native Sweden, Germany and Sicily.

The only one who had managed to keep tabs on the Swede was lead Chevron driver Brian Redman. The driver and constructor's title would be decided in the season finale at Spa-Francorchamps. Chevron had hastily cut the roof off the B16 to regain competitiveness and it paid off as in a spectacular battle over 500 km, he managed to just beat Bonnier. The Swede had done enough to win the drivers' title but Chevron's last ditch effort did help them grab the constructors' crown.

Bonnier's success had not gone unnoticed as by the end of 1970, Lola had sold and produced 16 examples of the T210. Over the winter, the Group 6 sports racer was further refined and evolved into the T212 of which another 22 were built. In the European Championship, it struggled against the new Chevron B19 but went go on to be raced with considerable success for several more seasons. In 1972, Lola's first generation of Group 6 racers was replaced by the T290, evolutions of which would continue to be built until the end of the decade.
