Chassis:
The second GT1 road car built with 996-type headlights, this car was delivered new to prominent Porsche collector Tobias Kemper. He picked the car up at Porsche Zentrum Munich Olympiapark at the end of May in 1998. Used only on the road, the car had racked up around 4,400 km before Kemper sold the car on in 2003. The new owner was Don Wallace from Tampa, Florida, who became the first person to successfully import and register a Porsche 911 GT1 in the United States. In 2009, the car changed hands but remained in Florida. In 2012, it was repatriated to Germany by Manfred Freisinger. It returned once more to the United States in 2015. Less than two years later, it was sold for $5.6 million at the Gooding & Co. Amelia Auction. At that time, the odometer read just 7,900 km.
