Chassis:
Featured is a Thrupp and Maberly bodied 710 SS. The 2-door, 2-seater body-type is referred to by the works as the Cabriolet A. To save weight, the entire body is constructed from aluminium instead of the more common all-steel construction, giving this particular model a racecar-like performance. Finished in pale-blue and cream, the pictured example is in excellent condition after a thorough restoration. After a Monaco Concours d'Elegance, the owner added small Monaco emblems all over the cream parts of the body.
Up until 2003, 710 SS s/n 36352 was part of the extensive Rolf Meyer collection. After his death in April of 2000, his large collection of mostly Mercedes-Benzes was offered by Artcurial for auction. Being one of the highlights of the collection, the 710 SS changed hands for an impressive EUR 843,288.
