Touring - Images, Specifications and Information

Carrozzeria Touring will always be associated with their lightweight desing using aluminum tubes and and panels. Patented Superleggera, it was designed using an american system of fabric covererd lightweight frames, and their experience in working with aluminium for the aircraft industry. It was already used before WWII but became the trademark of all famous Touring bodied cars that saw the light in the fifties and the sixties. Nevertheless, demand sort of collapsed in the mid sixties and the company was forced to close in 1966.
Carlo Anderloni, who had taken over business when his father died in 1948, went to Alfa Romeo to become head of their design department.
